mid-week recruitment

So it is day 4 of recruitment- and it's flying by! It is truly awesome, but I am insanely tired.

Monday- kickoff- i had my grad school orientation in the morning, changed clothes in my car, and headed to FSU sorority recruitment 2009 kickoff! It was hot as Hades that day and there were 1,279 women waiting to sign in to rush 15 sororities on campus! It was fantastic! Truly a sight to see and made me think how amazing it must be to be going through all of these houses and finding their perfect fit. We previously ordered 325 pizzas for all of the new women, all of their disaffiliated Rho Gammas- 75, plus recruitment staff and greek life staff. There were 20+ pizzas left over and we donated them to the homeless shelter in town. You may be wondering how much 325 pizzas cost---- $3,232.66. That is a lot of pizza! Kickoff went great and we had 6 parties that night and we went to the hotel and went to bed!
We stay in a hotel the whole week because the 75 women who are disaffiliated have no place to live since they live in their chapter houses normally. I have my own suite and work in the recruitment suite which has lots of snacks and yummy stuff for the week.

Tuesday- today was day 2 of Ice, Water, Teas and we had 9 parties this day. It was very long day and I went to a few houses and went into their parties to check out their videos. The houses are ENORMOUS and so beautiful. It must be nice to live in multi-million dollar mansions. Little do they realize that this could be the last and only time they live in a home like this. Each house has such good food- I will pack on some pounds this week for sure! The house mothers cook such great stuff! James- my boss of recruitment- and I have our own golf carts and we cruise around campus on them hoping from house to house. The day ended with all 1000+ women ranking their choices on the computers in a lab and then heading back to the hotel. We stayed up until 4:30 am doing computer selections, answering phone calls, figuring out statistics, and whatnot. I was so tired that I fell asleep with my clothes on in my king bed!
Wednesday- I was back up at 7:30 to answer more calls and make some calls to Potential New Members (PNMs) about their schedules. I went back to bed until 10 and it was out the door for parties until 5 pm. I got to go home this night and went to bed at 7pm and slept until 7 am. Phew!
Thursday- Parties started at 11 am and went until 5 today. It was house tour day and I got to see even more of the most beautiful homes. They make me so happy and make me wish we had houses during my AGD IUP days. Oh well- then we wouldn't have had the awesome times we had in the brown house and treehouse! We went out to the Red Elephant for dinner as a staff which is always fun cause we get to unwind and not be so professional. I love my staff!
Right now it is 12:45 am and we are waiting for the chapters to turn in their selections. It looks like I will be up at least until 4 again. Woo. The rest of the nights until Sunday will be equally as hellish but I love what I do so I am trying to be patient and flexible!

Wish me luck on getting some sleep!
